Carlin Sunday – Carlins
Do you recall Carlin Sunday? Carlins feel to have dropped out of favour presently. The following carlin recipe has nothing in anyway to do with my mum, but I noticed it on an Online web-site belonging to the ‘Irish Seed Savers Association’ and I assumed it would be intriguing to check out. Carlin Pea Fritters
4ozs Dried complete Carlin peas
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
2ozs self-boosting wholewheat flour
1/8 pt(75ml) milk ( I use soya milk)
freshly floor black pepper
oil for shallow frying
Cover peas with boiling h2o and leave them to soak for numerous several hours, then drain and rinse them. Set into a saucepan with more h2o and simmer right up until they are tender- about 45 mins.
Drain them and mash them (I come across that the carlin peas cook erratically some are continue to hardish, so I get my husband to mash them with a fork!).
Insert oil, egg, flour and milk moreover salt and pepper, mix effectively.
